House Republicans' $14.3 billion Israel aid bill cuts IRS funding

The House released the supplement Israel funding measure, allocating $14.3 billion to the Mideast nation.

Last Monday, House Speaker Mike Johnson observed that the plan eliminates the same amount in spending, rescinding $14.3 billion previously given to the IRS under the Inflation Reduction Act.

Democrats say the bill's offsets could prevent House passage. Tom Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene, two House Republicans, have committed to opposing the plan.

Both Senate leaders want Israel funding bundled with Ukraine and border security funding.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer warned Johnson Monday that the chamber will reject the House measure if Republicans incorporate spending cutbacks to match the Israel package's expenses.
