Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson suspends her campaign

Writer Marianne Williamson declared today that she is putting her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination on hold.

She said, in part, in a video that went along with the statement, "We did what we could to shed some light in some very darkened times."

Following his victory in Nevada on Tuesday, President Joe Biden secured his first official victory of the 2024 cycle over the weekend in the Democratic primary in South Carolina. Williamson made this announcement. Williamson failed to secure a victory in New Hampshire last month, despite the president not being on the ballot. Rather, Biden won the primary in a symbolic manner through an unofficial write-in campaign.

Following an unsuccessful 2020 campaign, Williamson announced her long-shot bid for president in March 2023.
