Trump wins the GOP primary in South Carolina over Nikki Haley

After winning every Republican nominating contest thus far, former President Donald Trump easily prevailed in South Carolina's GOP presidential primary on Saturday. This puts him in a position to possibly secure the party's presidential nomination within the next month.

Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, suffered a blow in her home state. The winner of each congressional district and the statewide winner will share the 50 delegates that were up for grabs in Saturday's competition. Furthermore, Trump appears capable of pulling off a clean sweep based on his strong showing in the exit polls and preliminary results.
