Invoking "crimes against humanity" against the Palestinians, Bolivia severs diplomatic ties with Israel

The Bolivian Agency of Information (ABI) reported that Bolivia is severing diplomatic ties with Israel due to "crimes against humanity committed against the Palestinian people" following Israel's conflict with Hamas.

The announcement of the decision was made on Tuesday by María Nela Prada, the interim foreign minister of Bolivia and minister of the presidency, and vice foreign minister Freddy Mamani. The declaration was made a day after Mahmoud Elalwani, the Palestinian ambassador to Bolivia, and Bolivian President Luis Arce met.

According to the ABI, Bolivia is getting ready to deploy help to Gaza.

Diego Pary, Bolivia's UN representative, reaffirmed his nation's position at a special UN General Assembly session on Tuesday, stating they "are on the side of the rights of the Palestinian people."

"As a result the people and government of Bolivia [have] taken the decision to break diplomatic ties from today with the state of Israel because we consider it a state that does not respect life of peoples, international law or international humanitarian law," Pary stated.
