Eight French airports had to be evacuated due to security concerns
For security considerations, eight airports in France were forced to close on Wednesday.
The airport in Beauvais, near Paris, was evacuated "following an anonymous threat received by several French hubs." The airport later announced that it was reopening.
Strasbourg airport in eastern France was evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Following a police operation, the airports of Biarritz and Toulouse in the southwest, Lille in the north, and Lyon-Bron in the southeast stated operations had resumed. All four were evacuated earlier that day due to a bomb concern.
After being evacuated earlier in the day owing to an abandoned item, operations at Nice airport in southern France have already resumed.
Palace of Versailles in Paris has evacuated tourists for security reasons for the third time in less than a week. Later Wednesday, the palace reopened to the public.
Following a knife assault at a school in the northern city of Arras last week, France upped its security alert level to the maximum possible.
