Palestinian Authority's president praises the UNGA's decision in favor of Palestinian statehood

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas commended the support, from the UN General Assembly regarding the reconsideration of Palestines full UN membership by the UN Security Council. He expressed appreciation for the countries that supported the resolution highlighting its alignment with laws and global consensus in condemning violations and transgressions of legitimacy due to occupation.

Following the vote Abbas reiterated Palestines dedication to pursuing UN membership through Security Council decisions. He called on the US to withdraw its veto and support UN accession for the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas stressed the importance of the vote, which while granting rights within the UN framework did not provide membership. He viewed it as a reaffirmation of trust in laws and legitimacy essential for promoting peace, in the region.
