Hezbollah Warns of Strikes on Cyprus in the Event of Support for Israel

On Wednesday, the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah declared that no area in Israel would remain untouched if a full-scale war erupts between the two adversaries. For the first time, he also issued threats against EU member Cyprus and other Mediterranean regions.

“Opening Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to target Lebanon would mean that the Cypriot government is part of the war, and the resistance will deal with it as part of the war,” Nasrallah warned.

Speaking at a memorial for a high-ranking commander killed by an Israeli strike last week — the most prominent Hezbollah figure lost in the ongoing conflict with Israel — Nasrallah stated that Hezbollah would engage in combat with “no rules” and “no ceilings” should a wider conflict occur.

“The enemy wants to intimidate us, but they are the ones who should be afraid.”

In reaction, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides assured that Cyprus is not engaged in any military activities in the region or elsewhere.

The tension between Hezbollah and Israel has escalated following the Hamas attacks on October 7 and the subsequent military operations by the Israel Defense Forces in Gaza. The recent spike in cross-border hostilities has heightened fears of a potential full-scale war.
