The leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon meets with top leaders from Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad

The leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah group met with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad leaders in Beirut on Wednesday to discuss the Gaza war.

State media in Syria reported that an Israeli airstrike damaged the runway at Aleppo International Airport on Wednesday, forcing it to close.

A brief statement after the Lebanon meeting said Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah agreed with Hamas' Saleh al-Arouri and Islamic Jihad's Ziad al-Nakhleh on the next steps for the three and other Iran-backed militants at this “sensitive stage” in the Middle East.

Hezbollah-run and Lebanese state media reported that their goal was “a real victory for the resistance in Gaza and Palestine” and to stop Israel's “treacherous and brutal aggression against our oppressed and steadfast people in Gaza and the West Bank”.

Nasrallah has not addressed the Gaza war or Lebanon-Israel border clashes. Other Hezbollah leaders have warned Israel against its ground invasion of the besieged territory.

Israeli officials say they will retaliate aggressively if Hezbollah attacks from Lebanon.
