Israel said a Hamas naval commander was murdered

An attack on Khan Younis, the main city in southern Gaza, on Thursday resulted in the death of a commander of Hamas' naval forces, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

“Amar Abu Jalalah was a senior operative in Hamas’ naval forces and involved in directing several terror attacks by sea that were thwarted by the IDF,” the IDF statement read.

According to the military, another member of Hamas' naval forces perished in the attack.

Speaking with media earlier this week, a senior IDF officer stated that Israel thinks it is making some progress in eliminating senior Hamas military operators.

According to Israel's assessment, Hamas had 24 battalions in its military wing, 10 of which had been "hurt significantly" by Israeli strikes since October 7, the official stated.

According to the source, certain battalions located in the northern part of Gaza lost over four of their commanders, which equates to a loss of over fifty percent of their top leadership.
