Israel says it has eliminated a Hamas official who was involved in weapon smuggling

Hassan Atrash, a Hamas official, was allegedly killed by the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet, the country's security agency, on Friday in southern Gaza.

A post from the IDF on X, formerly Twitter, stated that Atrash was in charge of trade, manufacturing, and supply of weapons for Hamas.

The military claimed that "he was involved in smuggling weapons from various countries into the Gaza Strip and recently also took part in smuggling weapons into the West Bank."

The post states that Atrash was killed by a fighter jet strike close to the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza.
