Gaza war will rage for "many more months," according to the Israeli military chief
The Israeli army chief said Tuesday that Israel's war in Gaza will last "many more months," echoing similar recent comments from other Israeli leaders.
According to an IDF translation of his comments, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi said in a news briefing that because the war is being fought in a "complex area," it "will continue for many more months, and we will operate in various ways — so that the achievement will be preserved over time."
"There are no magic solutions or shortcuts in the fundamental dismantling of a terrorist organization, except persistent and determined fighting, and we are very, very determined," he went on to say. "We will also get to the Hamas leadership, whether it takes a week or months."
He added that the IDF was close to "dismantling" Hamas in northern Gaza.
