According to the Ministry of Health, at least 15 children in Gaza have died from malnutrition and dehydration
According to a spokesperson from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in northern Gaza, the count of children succumbing to dehydration and malnutrition has reached 15 as of Sunday.
Dr. Ashraf Al-Qidra, the Ministry's representative in Gaza, expressed grave concern for six children undergoing intensive care due to malnutrition and diarrhea. Their condition worsened due to the halt in electric generator and oxygen services, compounded by inadequate medical resources at Kamal Adwan Hospital.
The death toll has been steadily climbing since last week, attributed to the nighttime shutdown of incubators and oxygen supplies at Kamal Adwan Hospital due to fuel shortages, as stated by the ministry.
“Humanitarian aid agencies like UNICEF must be enabled to reverse the humanitarian crisis, prevent a famine, and save children’s lives,” UNICEF’s Adele Khodr said in a statement Sunday.
UNICEF reported being informed of the deaths of at least 10 children from dehydration and malnutrition in recent days at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.
