Rapper Eminem's mother, Debbie Nelson, has away. Her tumultuous relationship with her son was well-known due to the lyrics of his popular songs. Her age was 69.

Nelson passed away on Monday night from lung cancer at a Missouri hospital.

Early in his career, Nelson's music frequently emphasized the tense connection between him and her kid. In "My Name Is" and "Cleanin' Out My Closet," two of his best-known songs, he accuses his mother of drug abuse and mistreatment.

In 1999, Nelson won a $10 million case for slander against her son, Marshall Mathers.

In an effort to redeem her identity, she also wrote a book in 2008 called "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem," in response to her son's songs.

"'My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem' is her rebuttal to these widely believed lies — a poignant story of a single mother who wanted the world for her son, only to see herself defamed and shut out when he got it," according to a book's back cover. She tried to correct the record in "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem," giving readers information about the rapper's early years.

Eminem was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 and won the 2024 MTV EMAs' Best Hip Hop Act award earlier this month.

In a heartfelt music video that pays homage to their bond, he revealed last month that he would soon become a grandfather and that his daughter Hailie Jade was expecting.
