Astros and Rockets create a new network after acquiring AT&T SportsNet Southwest

The Houston Rockets of the NBA and the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball declared on Friday that they would launch their own network after acquiring AT&T SportsNet Southwest from Warner Bros. Discovery.

Launching on Tuesday, Space City Home Network is a collaborative effort between the two businesses. Fans will be able to watch games on the same channels they previously used, according to the teams, who assure fans that the transition will be easy.

As the regional sports network model struggles, the Astros and Rockets are the latest teams to look for alternatives.

The network's inaugural live broadcast will take place on October 10th, during the Rockets' preseason game versus Indiana. The new network plans to carry regional high school and college programming in addition to roughly 220 games a season.
