Returning to "The Daily Show" as host and executive producer is Jon Stewart
The comedian, renowned for establishing the Comedy Central program as a cultural and entertainment force during his 16-year tenure as host, is set to make a comeback. Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios announced on Wednesday that Jon Stewart will host the show every Monday, starting February 12.
Returning amidst the intensifying 2024 presidential election season, Stewart will not only be the show's host but also serve as its executive producer. Additionally, he will collaborate with a rotating roster of comedians who will take charge of the program on Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Chris McCarthy, the Chief Executive of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, expressed their honor at having Stewart back on Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show.’ McCarthy highlighted Stewart as the voice of their generation and emphasized the comedian's role in helping make sense of the country's current state of chaos and division as the election season unfolds.
Jon Stewart gained acclaim on "The Daily Show" for his sharp humor, delivering poignant and humorous monologues that often exposed the hypocrisy of politicians. With the 2024 election featuring prominent figures like Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Stewart is poised to have a wealth of material to draw from. As a known critic of Trump, he is expected to use the platform to playfully critique the former president.
