After the previous season was cut short, "Saturday Night Live" is back, live from New York

"Saturday Night Live" is making a comeback to television, five months after the writers' strike forced it to shortened its season.

Season 49 of the venerable sketch comedy series will debut on October 14, NBC revealed on Wednesday. Pete Davidson, a former cast member, will host, fulfilling a May 2017 plan that he was supposed to. Ice Spice, a first-time musical guest, will accompany the comedian.

Bad Bunny will do double duty as host and musical guest the following week. Although the Grammy winner has previously performed on the show, this will be his first time hosting.

Chloe Troast, a new player, will be joining the cast of Season 48 as a featured player.

There have also been returns to other late-night programs, including "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
