Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic flame before the opening ceremony in Paris
Snoop Dogg, an American musician and actor, will be one of the final torchbearers of the Olympic flame before the Games' opening ceremony on Friday in Paris.
According to Mathieu Hanotin, mayor of Saint-Denis, Snoop Dogg will carry the torch around the area. Snoop will represent the 67th leg of the flame's journey.
Hanotin stated that Saint-Denis is the final destination on the Olympic flame's voyage before reaching the Eiffel Tower.
Snoop Dogg will be joined by French actress Laetitia Casta and rapper MC Solaar on this leg of the relay.
Together, they will bring the torch closer to its final destination, where it will light the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony.
The torch was initially lighted in April at the ancient Olympia site, where the Games originated. The International Olympic Committee stated that the practice represents "peace and friendship among nations since antiquity."
After relaying through Greece, the torch arrived at the French port of Marseille on May 8. It has since traveled through various regions of France and will arrive at the Seine ahead of the opening ceremony, scheduled for 1:30 ET on Friday.
Snoop Dogg has already arrived in Paris, posting on Tuesday a selfie of himself in the Olympic host city with the caption "U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics, ya diggg."
Snoop Dogg also competed in the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon, earlier this month, running a 200-meter exhibition race in 34.44 seconds.
