Rapper 50 Cent announced on Monday that the oppressively hot weather forced him to cancel his scheduled performance for Tuesday at the outdoor Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in west Phoenix.

I'll soon return to Arizona! Everyone should be careful around 116 degrees, the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, declared on social media.

Phoenix-based meteorologists from the National Weather Service said that Monday's temperature reached a maximum of 117 degrees Fahrenheit (47 degrees Celsius). A record-breaking 117 degrees are predicted for Tuesday, breaking the previous mark of 113 degrees (45 degrees Celsius) for August 29 established in 1981.

A new date for 50 Cent's Phoenix performance on his "The Final Lap Tour" has not yet been announced.
