Jessica Aber, a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, found dead at the age of 43

Jessica Aber, the former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was discovered dead Saturday morning in Alexandria, Virginia, according to officials. She was 43.
According to a police statement, officers in Alexandria, Virginia, were dispatched to a residence on Beverly Drive in the Washington, D.C. neighborhood at 9:18 a.m. Saturday to investigate a complaint of an unconscious lady. They discovered Aber dead inside.
Police are conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will identify the cause and manner of death, according to authorities.
Prior to her departure in January as President Trump took office, the Biden-nominated attorney won one of her most significant court victories when ex-CIA analyst Asif Rahman, 34, pleaded guilty to leaking top-secret materials concerning Israel's plot to strike Iran last year.
Aber, who served as U.S. Attorney in Virginia for the most of the Biden administration, was overwhelmingly approved by the Senate in October 2021 and resigned in January, just after President Donald Trump's inauguration.
Aber managed a team of over 300 prosecutors and other personnel, as well as federal prosecutions throughout the state, while serving as US attorney.
According to her web profile, she began working at the office as an assistant US attorney in 2009, prosecuting instances of financial fraud, public corruption, violent crime, and child abuse.
She earned a law degree from William & Mary Law School in 2006.
In a statement released Saturday afternoon, the current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia grieved the unexpected loss.
"We are heartbroken beyond words to learn of the passing of our friend and former colleague, U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber," Current U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Erik Siebert said in a statement. "She was unmatched as a leader, mentor, and prosecutor, and she is simply irreplaceable as a human being. We remain in awe of how much she accomplished in her all too brief time in this world."
Calling her a "proud Virginian from high school through college and throughout her career," Siebert's statement went on to say: "Her professionalism, grace, and legal acumen set the standard. Though we are devastated by this loss, each of us in the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) will look to her example and endeavor to live up to that standard."
“The loss of Jessica Aber, former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, is deeply tragic,” added US Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends during this profoundly difficult time.”
