According to Biden, the assault on Ukraine demonstrates that Putin's goals in the country have not changed
Russian President Vladimir Putin's intentions in the country are brought to light by the country's most recent aerial attack on Ukraine, which is the biggest since the full-scale invasion started, according to US President Joe Biden.
"It is a stark reminder to the world that, after nearly two years of this devastating war, Putin's goal remains unchanged." He wishes to obliterate Ukraine and subjugate its people. "He must be stopped," Biden said in a statement Friday.
Using the occasion, he urged Congress once more to approve more aid for Ukraine, claiming that US-supplied defense systems had successfully intercepted a large number of Russian drone and missile launches on Friday.
"The American people can be proud of the lives we have helped to save and the support we have given Ukraine as it defends its people, its freedom, and its independence," he wrote in a statement. "But unless Congress takes urgent action in the new year, we will not be able to continue sending the weapons and vital air defense systems Ukraine needs to protect its people."
Biden has asked for an additional $60 billion in aid for Ukraine, but talks over stricter US immigration laws have caused the funding to stall.
