Four-member family discovered dead in their house, shaking peaceful Illinois neighborhood

Sunday night, the bodies of a family of four, including two children, and their three dogs were found in their home in a quiet town about 30 miles outside of Chicago.

Officials say that the two adults, their two children, and their two dogs were all shot in their Romeoville, Illinois, home.

Deputy Chief Chris Burne of the Romeoville Police Department said at a news conference Monday that police do not think the deaths were a murder-suicide. Instead, they are looking into it as a murder.

The Will County Coroner's Office said that the two adults who died were named Alberto Rolon, 38, and Zoraida Bartolomei, 32. The two children who died were boys.

Burne said that officers were sent to the home in the 500 block of Concord Avenue to check on the well-being of a family member who didn't show up to work on Sunday and didn't answer calls from relatives, which raised concerns.

The killing probably happened between 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, according to the police.
