Dallas police reacted to a gunshot at Wilmer-Hutchins High School on Tuesday afternoon. Safety precautions were in place, and family were encouraged to keep away from the school while kids were evacuated.

At 2:20 p.m., authorities certified that there was no active danger and that the school site was secure.

"Safety protocols have been implemented, and we are asking everyone to refrain from coming to the campus," according to the statement.

While authorities acknowledged that one individual was hurt in the incident, they could not confirm the student's health. Dallas City Councilman Tennell Atkins said three kids were injured, and it is unknown whether the gunman is in custody.

According to Dallas City Council Member Tennell Atkins, who represents District 8, which includes the high school, three kids were injured, but he could not confirm if they were all shot.

Atkins stated that the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

According to Atkins, it seems that someone allowed someone else into the school before the incident occurred. Atkins stated that authorities know who the shooter is, but he could not confirm whether or not the person is in custody.

According to the Dallas Independent School District, parents and guardians can now reunite with their kids at Eagle Stadium, 5520 Langdon Road.
