On March 7, Biden will give the State of the Union address
On March 7, President Joe Biden will make his annual State of the Union address.
Biden accepted House Speaker Mike Johnson's invitation to deliver the address that day on Saturday, writing on X that he is "looking forward to it."
The State of the Union address is a tradition in which presidents showcase their priorities and agenda at the beginning of a new year.
This year's speech comes after Biden launched his 2024 presidential campaign with an impassioned warning that GOP frontrunner and former President Donald Trump may destroy American democracy.
“Donald Trump’s campaign is about him, not America. Not you, sir. Donald Trump’s campaign is obsessed with the past, not the future. He’s willing to sacrifice our democracy, put himself in power,” Biden said.
