A 7.5-magnitude earthquake strikes western Japan, prompting a tsunami warning

The US Geological Survey and the Japan Meteorological Agency both reported that an A5 magnitude earthquake occurred in western Japan on Monday afternoon, sparking a tsunami warning.

According to USGS, the earthquake occurred at 4:10 p.m. local time, 42 kilometers (26 miles) northeast of Anamizu in Ishikawa prefecture, and had a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).

A tsunami warning has been issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency for western Japan's coastal areas.
