Princess Kate declares that she is receiving cancer treatment
After weeks of intense rumors about her health, Kate, the Princess of Wales, finally revealed on Friday that she has cancer and is receiving chemotherapy.
Following significant abdominal surgery in January, the 42-year-old wife of Prince William, the future king of Britain, spent nearly two weeks in the private London Clinic.
In a rare video message on Friday, Kate stated that it was believed that her condition was not cancerous and that the surgery had been successful. But following the surgery, tests revealed the presence of cancer, the speaker added.
According to Kate, her medical team advised her to undergo "a course of preventative chemotherapy," which she is currently undergoing. The couple's royal residence, Kensington Palace, has not stated why the surgery was required, and she has not disclosed the type of cancer she has or the stage at which it was discovered.
In the statement made public by the palace, Kate stated, "I am currently in the early stages of that treatment." She expressed gratitude to the public for their support but requested "time, space and privacy" to finish her treatment.
