UN: Israeli order to leave northern Gaza in 24 hours "impossible"

The UN stated Thursday that an Israeli military order to evacuate all northern Gazans is "impossible" without serious humanitarian consequences.

The Israeli military informed the UN just before midnight local time Thursday that "the entire population of Gaza north of Wadi Gaza should relocate to southern Gaza within the next 24 hours," according to UN Secretary General spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.

This is about 1.1 million people. UN workers and those housed in schools, health centers, and clinics followed the same order "UN statement.
"The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences."The UN urges any such order to be reversed to prevent turning a tragedy into a catastrophe."

Israel has over 300,000 reservists along its southern border with Gaza but has not announced a military offensive.

As Israel maintains its embargo and bombardment in response to Hamas terror assaults that killed over 1,200 people, Gaza's humanitarian crisis is worsening with fears of hunger.

The Palestinian health ministry reports over 1,500 Gaza deaths. The UN reported 338,000 airstrike-related displacements.
