Egypt's official claims 75 aid trucks are waiting to enter Gaza
According to North Sinai Governorate Secretary General Osama Al-Ghandour, 75 relief trucks arrived on the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing with Gaza on Monday.
The Egyptian Red Crescent has delivered 193 trucks bringing over 3,100 tons of food, medicine, and medical supplies to the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing since October 8, according to Al-Ghandour.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said just 118 vehicles have entered Gaza “due to the complex inspection procedures imposed by Israel, which impedes the arrival of aid to Gaza.”
Al-Ghandour said Israel still bans fuel from Gaza.
He added North Sinai's medical sector is ready to treat wounded Gazans in Egyptian hospitals once they can cross.
Following the first truck convoy through Rafah on October 21, aid has trickled into Gaza for over a week. However, UN officials warn that the present relief levels are a "drop in the ocean" compared to the needs of 2 million Palestinians in Gaza, and the early delivery did not include gasoline.
