"Hospitals must be protected," Biden says amid Israel's Gaza medical focus
Concerned about Gaza's hospitals in light of Israeli accusations that Hamas uses them to plan attacks, US President Joe Biden has voiced his concerns.
Two weeks ago, an IDF spokeswoman seemed to imply that certain hospitals are on Israel's target list when they stated, "When medical facilities are used for terror purposes, they are liable to lose their protection from attack in accordance with international law."
Concerns regarding the enclave's hospitals were voiced by Biden on Monday.
“Well, you know, I have not been reluctant expressing in my concern with what's going on, and it’s my hope and expectation that there will be less intrusive action relative to the hospitals, we’re in contact with the Israelis,” the president said.
A pause is being considered to deal with the release of inmates, and that is also being negotiated, so I'm not entirely discouraged, but the hospitals have to be safeguarded, Biden continued.
