Israeli war cabinet minister's son died in Gaza, according to the IDF

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Gal Meir Eisenkot, the son of Israeli cabinet minister Gadi Eisenkot, passed away in northern Gaza on Thursday.

The IDF released a statement stating that Master Sgt. (Res.) Gal Meir Eisenkot, a 25-year-old combat soldier assigned to the 699th Battalion of the 551st reserve commando Brigade, had died in combat.

Serving in the IDF for over forty years, his father held the position of chief of staff for the force from February 2015 until January 2019.

Following the attack by Hamas on October 7, Gadi Eisenkot became a minister without portfolio in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wartime government.

Netanyahu sent Gadi Eisenkot his condolences.

Since October 7, there have been 88 IDF troops killed in Gaza.
