UN emphasizes land access for aid distribution and applauds US plan for Gaza port

On Thursday, Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, commended the proposal put forth by the US to establish a port in Gaza dedicated to humanitarian aid.

Dujarric stressed the importance of bolstering aid transportation via land routes, affirming, "Our primary focus, as well as that of the global community, should remain on enhancing the widespread distribution and ingress of aid via land."

He underscored the cost efficiency and effectiveness of distributing aid via land routes, emphasizing the necessity for additional entry points and increased aid flow through such channels.

Dujarric observed that while the arrival of aid trucks into Gaza signifies progress, it's merely one aspect of a multifaceted operation. He elaborated on the need for further logistical arrangements, including unloading and disseminating aid, which often requires coordination with Israeli authorities for security measures.
