Tesla to recall 125,227 vehicles due, to issues, with the seat belt warning system
A recall for 125,227 Model S (2012)–2024, Model X (2015)–2024, Model 3 (2017–2023), and Model Y (2020–2023) vehicles has been started by Tesla due to possible problems with the seat belt warning system.
According to a safety recall report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations require visual signals to remind drivers to fasten their seat belts. In affected Tesla cars the warning light and chime may not function correctly.
The specific incident involved a 2024 Tesla Model X being tested for compliance with UNECE Regulation No. 16. During testing the seat belt reminder signals did not activate as expected.
Currently, no injuries related to this issue have been reported. However, Tesla plans to address the problem with an over-the-air (OTA) update expected to be released within the next few weeks. This recall is one of several recent recalls and investigations that have affected Tesla throughout 2024.
