Stellantis is recalling 338,000 Jeeps because of a suspension issue

Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler, is recalling 338,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees in the US due to loose front suspension parts. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration records, the SUV's front wheel could fall outward, causing loss of control.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee and three-row Grand Cherokee L are recalled. All relevant SUVs are 2021–2023 models. According to official documentation, Stellantis was unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue as of late January.

Some of these automobiles may have damaged front suspension nuts during assembly. Drivers of affected vehicles may hear odd noises over bumps.

Stellantis' US subsidiary, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, will send owners notices to take their cars to a dealership. Dealership technicians will check front-end bolts for replacement. Customers will receive free work, as usual in recalls. FCA additionally reimburses consumers who did the job themselves. Mid-April is when FCA will send recall letters to customers.

NHTSA's Safercar.gov lets owners verify if their vehicle is recalled. About 38,200 Grand Cherokees outside the US will be recalled for the same issue.
