'Three's Company' actor Suzanne Somers passes away at age 76
According to Suzanne Somers' longtime publicist R. Couri Hay, the actress is deceased at the age of 76.
On Sunday, the eve of her 77th birthday, Somers, the performer from "Three's Company," passed away early in her home in the company of her loved ones.
On October 16, her family came together to celebrate her 77th birthday. On behalf of Somers' family, Hay released a statement saying, "Instead, they will honor her extraordinary life and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."
The cause of Somers's death was not immediately known. Hay stated that she "survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years."
Somers revealed on Instagram in July that her breast cancer had come back.
"Like any cancer patient, you get a pit in your stomach when you get that dreaded 'it's back,'" she said to "Entertainment Tonight" at the time. I then don my combat gear and head into fight. I am pretty tough, and this is a battleground I am accustomed with.
She developed skin cancer as well, which was initially identified in 2000. She came under fire for fighting the tumors by living what she called an organic, chemical-free lifestyle.
Throughout the 1970s, Somers made numerous television appearances, such as in "The Rockford Files" and "The Six Million Dollar Man," but her most well-known role was in "Three's Company," which ran on ABC from 1977 to 1984. She also portrayed a mother in the enduring children's sitcom "Step by Step."
