Woman sues Jamie Foxx for 2015 sexual assault
A woman is suing Oscar-winning actor and musician Jamie Foxx for sexually assaulting her at a rooftop bar in August 2015.
The suit, filed Wednesday in New York Supreme Court, claims Foxx fondled and molested the unnamed lady after putting his hand down her pants. It was submitted two days before the New York Survivors Act expired, which enables adult sexual assault survivors one year to suit regardless of the statute of limitations.
The woman claims she and a companion, who were sitting a table away from Foxx, approached him to ask for a picture while he was drinking drinks with Catch NYC & Roof's co-founder and owner. According to the claim, a "intoxicated" Foxx "roughly" snatched the woman's phone and took more images while making sexual comments like "Wow, you have that super model body."
He grabbed her arm and pulled her to the back of the rooftop, where he rubbed her breasts and put his hand under her blouse, the suit claims. The woman tried to leave, but Foxx pushed his hands into her pants and inserted his fingers in her vagina and anus, the court document states.
The suit claims a security guard saw what was happening but left. Foxx stopped groping the woman and went to the security guard when her companion came up.
Catch NYC & Roof, the rooftop bar at 21 Ninth Ave. in New York, Catch NYC Inc., Catch Hospitality Group, and Catch owner Mark Birnbaum are also named in the claim.
The woman claims in the lawsuit that the assault caused her "severe emotional distress and anxiety, humiliation, embarrassment, post-traumatic stress disorder and other physical and emotional damages," including medical treatment, "pain and suffering" and ongoing effects.
She demands unspecified damages.
