Wendy Williams has been diagnosed with dementia and aphasia
Wendy Williams, the former talk show host, has been diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, as confirmed by her representatives. This information was disclosed via a press release on Thursday, aimed at dispelling inaccurate rumors about her health, as stated by Williams' care team.
The press release emphasizes Williams' history of being transparent about her health challenges, including Graves' Disease and Lymphedema, and acknowledges the public's concern regarding her ability to process information due to observed behaviors such as difficulty finding words and occasional erratic actions, especially in financial matters.
Williams received her diagnoses of aphasia and dementia in 2023 from Weill Cornell Medicine, according to her representatives.
"The decision to share this information was not taken lightly, but was made to foster understanding and empathy for Williams while also raising awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia" the release said.
