Rob 'The Rabbit' Pitts, star of Netflix's 'Tex Mex Motors,' dies aged 45
Rob "The Rabbit" Pitts, a star of Tex Mex Motors, passed away at the age of 45 following a fight with stomach cancer.
In March, while filming season 2 of "Tex Mex Motors," reality TV star and CEO of Pitts Truck Service was told that she had stomach cancer. This was revealed in a video titled "This Is Goodbye," which was uploaded to Pitts' YouTube profile overnight.
Pitts was experiencing "acid reflux-like symptoms" and lost his appetite before receiving his diagnosis. He sought treatment for his symptoms at an urgent care facility, but "didn't get to the root of the problem" until Jamie Hjelm, his co-star, drove him to the emergency department, where he received a formal cancer diagnosis.
In the video announcement that has received over 1.2 million views, Pitts stated, "Don't be sad for me... I accomplished my dream of buying my own store, finishing Season 2 of Netflix, and marrying the love of my life."
The Netflix series, which is a reality TV program in which cars are transported from Mexico to Texas for restoration, featured Pitts in two seasons. In 2023, the first season premiered. When the second season will premiere is unknown.
Just a few days after sharing a devastating video on social media to inform followers of his cancer diagnosis and bid them farewell, he passed away on Sunday. His cameraman Jeff made the announcement of his passing.
Jeff (Rob's videographer) posted a video with the description, "This Is Goodbye (RIP 7/27/79 - 8/25/24)." Hello everyone, this is Jeff. I am with him now in Hospice.
'He just passed at 21:45 on 08/25/2024. I will be sure to preserve the channel. He will be missed and we will never forget him.'
Rob first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in his farewell video. He also mentioned that he had been "feeling off" since last year and had sought medical attention when he started losing weight quickly.
He said: 'I went to urgent care a few times and they treated my symptoms but didn't get to the root of the problem.'
As he filmed the second season of Tex Mex Motors, he began to suffer 'acid reflux-like symptoms'.
After visiting the ER in March, he was given the diagnosis of stomach cancer, despite his first thoughts being that he had gallbladder problems.
Pitts cautioned viewers to pay attention to their bodies in the farewell video.
"You know I always have advice, and this time it's if your body is telling you something is wrong, don't stop until you figure it out," he said. "Ask questions and get answers."
