Jamie Foxx gives additional insights about the mysterious sickness that left him hospitalized
Jamie Foxx has provided further insight into the health issue that landed him in the hospital in April 2023. He has said that the incident began with a headache that developed into a serious medical emergency.
While filming "Back in Action" for Netflix in Atlanta in April 2023, the Oscar-winning actor was admitted to the hospital due to a health issue.
Foxx is seen conversing with people in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, in a recently discovered video that has gone viral on social media, remembering the beginning of the crisis.
“Bad headache. Asked my boy for an Advil,” he said, and then snapped his fingers. “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”
He clarified that he was in Atlanta when his sister and daughter accompanied him to the doctor, where he was given an injection known as a cortisone shot, which is used to treat inflammation, swelling, pain, and irritation (Mayo Clinic).
“Next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,’” he explained, motioning to his head. But he didn't want to give details saying, “I won’t say it on camera,” before the filming stopped.
The celebrity is renowned for keeping his personal life secret. At the time, he vanished from the public eye after posting about a "medical complication" on social media, according to his daughter Corinne Foxx.
“We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” the post read. “We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family.”
The "Ray" actor clarified in July 2023 that he decided against sharing further details because he didn't want the public to "see me like that."
“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through,” he said in a video posted to Instagram at the time, adding that he felt like he had gone “to hell and back.”
In August 2023, Foxx posted another health update on Instagram, saying that he was feeling like himself.
“You’re lookin’ at a man who is thankful… finally startin’ to feel like myself…” he wrote at the time. “It’s been an unexpected dark journey … but I can see the light,” he wrote in the post.
He went on to say that he was “thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayers.”
