Country star Toby Keith dies at 62 from stomach cancer
Country music artist Toby Keith passed away on Monday at the age of 62 following a struggle with stomach cancer.
“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” a statement posted to Keith’s website and social media said.
In 2022, Keith publicly disclosed his diagnosis of stomach cancer but persisted in his musical endeavors, including recent performances in Las Vegas.
“I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,” he said in a statement at the time. “I am looking forward to spending time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later.”
The renowned singer, aged 62, passed away on Monday. He graced the stage at the 2023 People's Choice Country Awards in September, where he was honored with the Country Icon Award.
Toby Keith is survived by his wife, Tricia, and their three children: Shelley, Krystal, and Stelen.
