The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor star Adan Canto passes away at the age of 42

Adan Canto, renowned for his roles in Fox's series "The Cleaning Lady" and appearances in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Designated Survivor," Netflix's "Narcos," and more, passed away on Monday after a private battle with appendiceal cancer. He was 42.

Hailing from Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, Canto spent his formative years in Del Rio, Texas, where he initially pursued a career in music. Contributing songs to various Mexican TV shows and films, he later graced the stage in an adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar’s “All About My Mother.” His introduction to television came in 2009 with his role in “Estado de Gracia.”

Canto made his American acting debut in 2013 with the Fox crime thriller series “The Following,” starring alongside Kevin Bacon. He continued to make his mark with roles in ABC’s sitcom “Mixology,” Netflix’s crime drama “Narcos,” “Blood and Oil,” and “Second Chance.” Notably, his first significant film role was portraying the superhero Sunspot in Fox's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" in 2014.

Roman Alder and Eve Josephine, his two daughters, and his wife Stephanie Ann Canto survive him.
