A record 123.4 million people watched Super Bowl LVIII, setting a new record for ratings
On Monday, CBS announced that the Super Bowl held on Sunday, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers, drew an average of 123.4 million viewers, setting new records for Super Bowl viewership.
This highly anticipated matchup in Las Vegas exceeded the previous highest-rated Super Bowl, which occurred just last year when the Chiefs staged a second-half comeback to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in front of 115 million viewers. The viewership for Super Bowl LVIII was so substantial that it approached the all-time highest television broadcast, which was set in 1969 during the Apollo 11 moon landing, with an estimated 125 to 150 million viewers.
The game, broadcasted on CBS and the Paramount+ streaming platform, was also simultaneously aired in Spanish on Univision and featured a kids-oriented telecast on Nickelodeon.
