Novak Djokovic advances to the US Open quarterfinals with a victory in straight sets. Next up for him is Taylor Fritz

In order to get to the U.S. Open quarterfinals on Sunday night, Novak Djokovic defeated qualifier Borna Gojo 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 without having to deal with any of the difficulties he did in his previous match.

In order to defeat Laslo Djere in the third round, Djokovic—who has three of his men's record 23 Grand Slam victories at Flushing Meadows—had to overturn a two-set deficit.

This time, Djokovic played much more neatly and maintained complete control. While Gojo committed 40 unforced errors, he finished with just 12.

"Just glad to get through in straight sets," remarked the second-seeded Djokovic, who already has it locked up that Carlos Alcaraz will be replaced at the top of the ATP rankings next week.
