A 4.6-magnitude earthquake shook greater Los Angeles

On Friday, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake shook the Los Angeles region, which has already been experiencing a barrage of winter storms since the previous week.

The epicenter of the quake was approximately 7 miles northwest of Malibu, situated in the mountainous terrain near the northern coastline of Los Angeles County, according to data provided by the U.S. Geological Survey. The tremor occurred at 1:47 p.m. local time, as confirmed by the USGS.

Following the 4.6 earthquake, at least two aftershocks, measuring preliminary magnitudes of 2.7 and 3.0, were recorded by the USGS.

In response to the event, the Los Angeles Fire Department advised residents via social media platforms to inspect their residences and check on their neighbors. Similarly, a Ventura County Fire Department account confirmed that the department was fully operational and reported no injuries.

The U.S. Tsunami Warning System assured that there was no likelihood of a wave threat resulting from the earthquake.
