US will seize Russian assets for Ukraine reconstruction says Blinken

Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated that the US will use seized Russian assets to fund Ukraine's reconstruction.

Our Congress authorizes us to seize Russian assets in the US. Blinken said at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Ukraine, "We'll use it."

“Russia must pay to rebuild what Putin destroyed.”

US and G7 countries are working to do the same with “Russia’s immobilized sovereign assets,” Blinken said.

"The G7 can unlock billions of dollars and send a powerful message to Putin that time is against him," Blinken said.

After meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Blinken reiterated the US "commitment to Ukraine's recovery," according to State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller.
