Elon Musk promised to offer satellite service to Gazan relief organizations, but Israel claims it will resist that

Given that the beleaguered strip lacks internet connectivity, Israel threatened to oppose Elon Musk's promise to supply Starlink satellite service to humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Israeli Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi declared that Hamas "will use it for terrorist activities."

"Perhaps Musk would be willing to condition it with the release of our abducted babies, sons, daughters, elderly people. All of them! By then, my office will cut any ties with starlink,” Karhi posted.

Following US Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's statement that "cutting off all communication to a population of 2.2 million is unacceptable," Musk made the announcement on the platform X, which he controls.

In response to Ocasio-Cortez, Musk wrote in a post, "Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza."

Israel's air and ground assault on the Gaza Strip is causing significant disruptions to communications in the area. Aid organizations claim they haven't been able to get in touch with local teams.

The UN Relief Works Agency for Palestine Refugees commissioner general wrote to personnel on Saturday, expressing the organization's "deep concern" for them in light of the blackout. Earlier, the World Health Organization declared that it is "out of touch" with its employees in Gaza.
