17 hostages were freed in the second batch after a brief cease-fire in Gaza

On Saturday, 17 captives were freed from Gaza after an hours-long wait and arrived in Israel, the IDF claimed.

Israel and Hamas reached a truce Saturday, freeing 13 Israelis and four Thais. As agreed, 39 Palestinian inmates imprisoned by Israeli authorities were released for a second day, an Israel Prison Service official stated early Sunday, local time.

50 of 240 people abducted by militants during the Oct. 7 Hamas onslaught on Israel and 150 Palestinian convicts held by Israeli police were anticipated to be released by Monday's completion of the four-day cease-fire.

The IDF reported that the Red Cross moved the prisoners to Egypt, where they were evaluated and taken to Israeli hospitals to reunite with their relatives.

Hamas' charges that Israel violated the accord, including not releasing prisoners in the agreed-upon order, delayed the release earlier in the day.
