Israel estimates that there are 159 hostages being held in Gaza at the moment

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari estimates that there are currently 159 hostages being held in Gaza.

The figure is in line with the sixth day of the ceasefire with Hamas, when a fresh batch of hostages is anticipated to be freed.

According to Hagari, Israeli military forces are "prepared operationally" along the Gaza cease-fire lines.

The spokesperson said, "Today, the troops killed three terrorists who violated the terms of the truce and posed a threat against our forces."

He said that over night, an Israeli military operation in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, killed Mohammed Zubeidi, a senior commander of the militant group Islamic Jihad.
