Robert Downey Jr. has his first Oscar for supporting actor

Robert Downey Jr. clinched the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal in the highly acclaimed film "Oppenheimer" during this year's awards season.

His victory adds to his previous wins in the same category at the Golden Globes and BAFTA, representing his inaugural Oscar triumph.

“I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy," he said in his acceptance speech.

One of the actor's best performances was as Lewis Strauss, who fought with atomic bomb inventor J. Robert Oppenheimer.
