After a crash, American skier Mikaela Shiffrin was hospitalized
The most successful skier of all time, Mikaela Shiffrin, a US celebrity, was transported by paramedics to a nearby clinic on Friday after suffering an injury during a collision during the women's downhill competition in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
The American lost control halfway through her run and flew into the nets encircling the slope.
The 28-year-old Shiffrin was observed hobbling out of the run while being supported by medical personnel on her skis.
Regarding Shiffrin's condition, the US Ski & Snowboard Team provided an update on X, the former name of Twitter.
“Mikaela Shiffrin was taken by ambulance to the clinic in Cortina and is being evaluated for a left leg injury. Initial analysis shows the ACL and PCL seem intact. Further details to come,” the team posted.
The incident occurred after a "brutal" full-speed crash at a World Cup race earlier in January that claimed the life of Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Shiffrin's partner.
