Police claim that Michael Latt, a celebrity social justice advocate, was shot and killed by an intruder in his house
Police recognized social justice campaigner and Hollywood icon Michael Latt as the man slain in his West Los Angeles home on Monday.
Los Angeles Police said an intruder shot and killed 33-year-old Latt at 6 p.m. He died from his injuries in a local hospital after paramedics transported him.
Latt founded "Lead With Love," a social impact marketing agency, and worked with "Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler, Netflix, and "Moonlight" filmmaker Barry Jenkins. He was the son of Sundance Institute founding senior director Michelle Satter and film producer David Latt.
“Our beloved son Michael Latt fell victim to a tragic act of violence this week,” Satter wrote on X. “Michael devoted his career to supporting artists, championing organizations that raised up artists of color, & leveraged storytelling for enduring change.”
Jameelah Michl was detained at Latt's Alandele Avenue residence. The 36-year-old woman lived in her car, police claimed. She faces $3 million bail for murder and armed burglary.
West Bureau Homicide Detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department are investigating Latt's murder.
