Foreign Secretary says UK will not stop arms sales but opposes the Rafah offensive

David Cameron, the UK's Foreign Secretary, expressed his opposition to Israel's plan for a full-scale offensive in Rafah, Gaza's southern city. However, he also stated his disapproval of ending arms sales to Israel.

According to Cameron, ceasing arms sales would potentially empower Hamas and reduce the likelihood of a hostage deal. He emphasized the importance of consistently working towards delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza and maximizing British pressure to achieve outcomes beneficial to the people, including the release of hostages.

This stance contrasts with US President Joe Biden's, who threatened to halt weapon deliveries to Israel in the event of a full-scale Rafah invasion. Recently, the United States temporarily halted a shipment of bombs to Israel due to concerns over their potential use in a Rafah incursion.
